April 11-15th:
To generate some thought for the take home essay exam, reflect on your experiences in Comp II. You may wish to address: the readings and projects, the teacher and teaching, the classroom atmosphere, your role as a student, the role of your peers, discoveries about yourself as a learner/writer, use of technology, and/or what you learned about the writing and research process.
For the week of April 4th-8th:
In 100-250 words provide your thesis statement and introduction to project 4 "Globalization."
For the week of March 27-April 1:
Write your thoughts about Churchill's Battle of Britain speech or FDR's Day of Infamy speech. Or, view the 1966 foreign film "The Battle of Algiers" and write about the ways in which stereotyping/racial profiling, warfare, terrorism and politics has or has not changed since the last century.
Week #8 March 21-25th.
bell hooks comments that "many white people are socialized to believe the fantasy, that whiteness represents goodness and all that is benign and non-threatening."
After reading the U.S. Patriot Act and contextualizing why this act was created, could bell hooks' statement be considered as an implicit sentiment within the act? Take a position and support and defend your reasonings.
